Introducing the DJI RS 4 Mini, a brand new compact and lightweight gimbal designed for content creators. The DJI RS 4 Mini features automatic axis locks, intelligent tracking and compositing, Teflon™-enhanced balancing and 3rd generation native vertical shooting mode, and delivers more efficient, smoother filmmaking for content producers and freelance video makers.

A new version of the classic tool
Unlock in 1 second, start filming immediately
The DJI RS 4 Mini features an automatic shaft lock previously only available on top-of-the-line DJI models, allowing the three shaft locks to automatically release on power-up and automatically lock when powering down or going into sleep mode. This noticeably speeds up filming, shifts and storage. The storage design has also been improved: the axle arms can be folded flatter, so the gimbal takes up less space. And the automatic axle locks allow the gimbal to be stored with the push of a button and stowed in a convenient carrying case.
Faster switching to vertical mode
Within the RS series, the RS 4 Mini is the fastest to switch between horizontal and vertical mode.[3] To switch to vertical mode, simply loosen and press the button on one side of the unit only, remove the horizontal plate on the gimbal, rotate the plate 90° and then lock the plate in place again. The changeover takes only 10 seconds. You can then shoot vertical videos in one go, perfect for viewing on a mobile phone, so your audience can get access to your creations faster.
Three ways to facilitate rebalancing
Having difficulty balancing when mounting your camera on the gimbal? The RS 4 Mini features a carefully thought-out innovation: the Teflon™ interlayers[4] previously found only in DJI's top-of-the-line gimbals reduce friction, making balancing smoother. A new fine-tuning knob on the longitudinal axis allows the camera to be moved forward or backward, and balancing is achieved with millimetre precision. The top quick-release plate features three positioning clamping slots, allowing you to choose from a variety of camera clamping positions to suit your camera, leaving more space for balancing. If you need to remove the camera from the gimbal but want to reposition it later, the mounting hole makes it easy to keep the position in mind so you can quickly reposition the camera without having to re-balance.
Can be used with both cameras and smartphones
The lightweight RS 4 Mini has a payload capacity of 2kg and can effortlessly carry a mirrorless digital camera from the Sony A7 series with a 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens, but can also handle vlogger cameras such as the Sony ZV series. The gimbal even allows smooth camera movement[6] when a DJI Mic series microphone[5], fill light and other accessories are attached. The new Phone Holder[7] lets you quickly switch to a smartphone stabilizer. Thanks to the gimbal's versatility, it can easily adapt to different situations.
Wireless recording and zoom
Once paired with Bluetooth[6], it is possible to start or stop recording with the camera or phone by pressing the record button on the gimbal, eliminating the need for a remote release cable. A new zoom control function allows you to control Power Zoom for PZ lenses and Clear Image Zoom with a simple press of the joystick, making one-handed use a breeze. The camera only needs to be paired with Bluetooth once, after which it can automatically reconnect without any problems.
Thoughtful improvements to the user interface
The touchscreen now displays icons in a more visible way and is smoother to use. New gimbal status indicators have been added, and the front dial can be used to fine-tune parameters directly when customising. An automatic lock function is available on the touchscreen. Once locked, the screen displays the current gimbal and joystick mode at low brightness. Locking the screen not only prevents accidental touches, but also helps maintain battery charge levels.
Briefcase Handle for Mini
We have also developed a new generation of handles[8] specifically for the RS 4 Mini. The size of the handle has been reduced by 20%[9] and the weight by 12%[9], so less effort is required for low-angle handheld film shooting.

Intelligent tracking and composing function
Introducing the DJI RS Intelligent Tracking Module[7], a new universal addition to the RS 4 series. This accessory helps novice video makers with intelligent tracking and compositing functions[10] that keep the subject of the shot in the same position within the frame. These features are particularly useful for shooting in a circular arc, for backwards tracking shots, and when you are shooting yourself alone in a fixed camera position and need the camera to follow you. The module supports tracking up to a distance of 10 metres and works reliably even in complex scenes, such as multi-person scenes. The gimbal can find and follow the subject again even if they leave the frame for a while.[11]
Secure magnetic clamping in 1 second
The tracking module is equipped with a magnetic quick release, which allows the module to be attached to the longitudinal axis in one second - after which it can be used with the gimball. Thanks to the magnetic attachment, the module stays securely in place and there is no need to worry about it coming loose or falling off, making the recording process more reliable.
Start/stop the tracking function in 1 second
With a single press of the shutter release, you can instantly lock on to the subject and start or stop the intelligent tracking function, which helps you keep the protagonist of your work in progress in the frame without any problems. Furthermore, if you hold your palm towards the tracking module, the module will identify you as the subject of the shot within one second and start/stop the smart tracking. Perfect for selfies and vlogs.
Responsive and fine tracking
In the new responsive mode, the gimbal responds faster to hand movements when starting and stopping the shot. This mode is particularly useful for fast, circular shooting. The device still features DJI's classic fine tracking mode, which, when selected, will make the gimbal respond smoothly, making it an ideal choice for normal tracking shots or parallel tracking shots. By combining different tracking modes and speeds, you can enjoy a variety of storytelling possibilities.
Powerful stabilisation
4th generation stabilisation
RS 4 Mini now features the 4th generation RS stabilisation algorithm. This algorithm excels at preserving the tactile feel of camera movement in addition to strong stabilisation, delivering great performance and an improved user experience. In addition, the RS 4 Mini has significantly improved stability when shooting in vertical mode and can easily stabilise dynamic shots such as those taken while running or using a low angle of view. Furthermore, the gimbal has been optimised to be compatible with a wide range of cameras and can automatically adjust the motor power to adapt to different shooting situations.
Fast charging, longer battery life
Charging speed and battery life have both increased by 30%[12] compared to the previous generation, with 13 hours[13] of battery life, giving you plenty of power for a full day's filming. The gimbal also supports fast charging, and with just 30 minutes of charging, you can get up to 5 hours[13] of battery life.
Low weight, high load capacity
Weighing just 890 g, the RS 4 Mini boasts a payload capacity of 2 kg. The gimbal supports a wide range of popular mirrorless digital cameras and lenses, and offers excellent performance[6] It can support a Sony A7 series mirrorless digital camera with a 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens, while also being equipped with a DJI Mic series microphone[5]. The RS 4 Mini is equipped with high-torque motors, so it can capture stable footage even when zoomed in to maximum focal length, and no balancing is required when using one of the recommended device-lens combinations below:
- Canon R5 + RF 24–70 mm F2.8
- Sony A7S3 + FE 24–70 mm F2.8 GM2
- Nikon Z7 2 + Z 24–70 mm F2.8
- Panasonic S5 + L 20–60 mm F3.5-5.6
Note
1. You must purchase the DJI RS Intelligent Tracking Module.
2. For use with a smartphone, purchase the DJI RS 4 Mini Phone Holder, available separately.
3. Based on data available as of February 2025.
